Centre for General and Co-curricular Studies began offering generic study programmes at the Master of Philosophy (KLK) and Doctor of Philosophy (PLK) levels in the 1st semester of the 2020/2021 academic session. With the offering of this new programme, there is a need to set up an association to gather all students enrolled in generic programs (KLK and PLK).

The meeting at the Centre for General and Co-curricular Studies dated 22 October 2020 has agreed to the proposed establishment of this association and the student collection effort commenced. Finally, the Postgraduate Association of Generic Studies approved its establishment in the 6th Supreme Council Meeting of the Association on 17 December 2020.

Officially on 31 January 2021, the Postgraduate Association of Generic Studies came into force until today

The logo of the association is a symbol that is the authoritarian identity, authority and recognition of the association. This logo is used only for the affairs and official symbolism of the association.

The blue color on the logo is the color theme on the official logo of PPUK. This color symbolizes calmness and transparency among members.
The white color represents a hope that this association can bring benefits to its members.
The book icon on the logo was chosen as a symbol of science and scholarship.
The writing of GENERIC UTHM is written in capital letters to make an assertion impact and reflect the integrity of the association and the member union.
The rectangular shape that houses the writing and the book icon means that this association will protect the rights of its members.

This association was established to implement the following goals;

1. Medium of social networking and communication between postgraduate students of UTHM generic studies.
2. Maintain, protect and voice the rights, welfare and interests of postgraduate students of UTHM generic studies.
3. Implement appropriate efforts and programmes that can benefit postgraduate students of UTHM generic studies.
4. To be a mediator body between the management of the study centre and the university with the postgraduate students of UTHM generic studies.

This goal is a charter, a priority and a struggle for this association.

Expertise for associations is open to all students enrolled under the KLK and PLK programs. Skill registration is open throughout the year.
